Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Mission Statement

To be a gathering space for American Planning Association (APA) Sacramento Valley Section (SVS) members to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within APA and the planning profession across the Sacramento region. To be a resource for planners who aspire to work more inclusively and effectively across the diverse communities we serve.

Objectives

1. To provide a space for the exchange of ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion at the workplace and elsewhere
2. To advocate for policy and other structural changes that promote social justice and gender sensitive design
3. To promote professional and academic development for diversity, equity, and inclusion purposes through skill-building events
4. To provide an outlet for our network of Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) planners and allies to connect and support one another
