The Sacramento Valley Section YPG is commited to planning dynamic events for 2017 ! We are hard at work bringing you YPG programs that involve project site and walking tours, professional development topics, community service opportunities, social events, and technical/educational programs.

Join Michael McCormick, AICP as he talks about the work of the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research and what led him to this position after years of local government focused work. He’ll share thoughts on how to position yourself better for opportunities in the future and negotiate for better benefits once those opportunities come. Michael worked in local government, has served on the boards of AEP and APA, helped start and run NGOs and had a one year secondment in Washington DC working in the Obama White House and NOAA. He continues to serve as an appointee in Governor Brown’s Office of Planning and Research as a Senior Planner.

Join the YPG at Hoppy Brewing Co on Tuesday, August 29th from 5:30-7:00PM to meet with aspiring planners from Sacramento State! We’re looking for planners from all sectors and experience levels to come share your insights and expertise with students aspiring to enter the planning field. This is also the perfect time to advertise any upcoming internships your organization may have. Planners of all ages and levels of experience are welcome - we look forward to seeing you there!

STUDENTS! This is a great opportunity to meet with planning professionals and ask about anything you've wanted to know about the planning field, including what planning careers are like across different sectors, internship opportunities, and the transition from school to the workplace. We’ll see you there!

ANNUAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER

Every year, Sacramento Valley Section APA throws a party to celebrate one planner who has left a legacy in our section and to raise student scholarship money. This year, we'll be honoring Bruce Baracco, AICP, a distinguished planner who has been an integral part of Sacramento Valley APA leadership, mentoring many of our Board members and providing valuable wisdom to the success of our Section.

We are also raising money for two local planning college student scholarships. Help us reach our goal of at least $2,000! Join the fun, including planner-themed trivia, dessert auction, live auction, and plenty of drinks and food! Bring your competitive spirit and a little extra money to win gourmet desserts, vacation home stays, bike tours, and more. See flyer for more information.
