The Sacramento Valley Section YPG is commited to planning dynamic events for 2016 ! We are hard at work bringing you YPG programs that involve project site and walking tours, professional development topics, community service opportunities, social events, and technical/educational programs. 

Planner's Pint Night: Jennifer Donlon Wyant

Join YPG at Kupro’s Craft House on Wednesday, May 10thfor an evening discussion on Vision Zero and how Sacramento is working to create safer streets. Jennifer Donlon Wyant from the City of Sacramento will discuss the ongoing development of the Vision Zero Action Plan and how it is addressing safety challenges to biking, walking, and driving in Sacramento. Vision Zero is a traffic safety philosophy that rejects the notion that traffic crashes are simply “accidents,” but instead preventable incidents that can and must be systematically addressed. Jennifer is the Active Transportation Program Specialist for the Department of Public Works focused on improving conditions for walking and biking within the City. Prior to joining the City, Jennifer led bicycle and pedestrian projects across the state as a Principal with Alta Planning + Design.

Planner's Pint Night: Professor Robert W. Wassmer

Join YPG at Oak Park Brewery on Tuesday, May 16th for an evening discussion with Professor Rob Wassmer and his graduate students at Sacramento State on population density and other research projects focused on the Sacramento region. Rob Wassmer is a professor in the Department of Public Policy and Administration at Sacramento State, and is also the Director of Sac State’s Master’s program in Urban Land Development. Professor Wassmer and his students will also be discussing the pros and cons of graduate school for those interested in pursuing a higher degree of education in urban and regional planning.

Sunday Street with YPG

SundayStreet

In partnership with the Greater Broadway District, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, and other organizations, the City of Sacramento’s inaugural SundayStreet event will take place May 21, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Broadway from Riverside Boulevard to 26th Street, down to 2nd Avenue and east to Broadway. YPG will be helping the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates (SABA) with building and installing a separated bikeway demonstration project for Sunday Street, so be sure to come out and say hi!
