APA Awards

These awards are part of the APA California Awards Program. They provide an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the great planning work occurring throughout California. Most awards must first go through the selection process at the Section level before advancing to the State level. By submitting a nomination to the Sacramento Valley Section, you will be starting the first step to potentially receive State, and maybe even National recognition for the planning work you’ve accomplished. The APA California Award Program offers nearly 20 categories of awards. Award categories and their descriptions can be found in the APA California Awards Program Policy document.

SVS Local Vision Awards

The Local Vision Awards are given annually by the Sacramento Valley Section of the American Planning Association, California Chapter (APACA), to organizations and individuals that have made outstanding contributions to creating better communities throughout the Sacramento Valley APA Section. The Sacramento Valley Section started the Local Vision Awards because we believe that planning a great community requires new and creative approaches that go beyond our traditional ideas of planning. The Sacramento Section’s Vision Awards recognize that sometimes you have to color outside of the lines to lead a community to plan for a better future. Award winners all have challenged the members of their communities to think differently about the everyday decisions they make.
